Car snuggies.
For christmas I made the boys these car snuggies. I used their regular snuggies as a type of pattern. I made the space between the sleeves on the front bigger. I made the armholes and the sleeves bigger and also made them wider from side to side. This way they will fit over their coats. I also made them shorter so that they only come to their knees standing up. This way they shouldn't touch the floor when they are sitting in the car and should hopefully not get snowy and wet. We have tried car blankets for them but they always end up partially on the floor and get wet. I am hoping this will allow them to snuggle up in these when it is late at night and they want to be warm and comfy and be a cleaner drier option then a blanket.
As you can see Zach was very busy:)

Teacher appreciation door
I did the door for Zach's class and thought that it would be easier to build the whole thing at home and then just stick it on the door. The idea was to save time the day that it had to be put up. I liked the way that it turned out but I invested a lot more time then I would have the other way. But his teacher was happy with the way that it turned out and now she has a display for the door that she can take down and put up over and over.
The theme was out of this world. I also got an extra class picture and cut everyones face out for the stick figures on the earth and then his teacher is inside the rocket ship. I sewed most of it on by machine and then hand stitched everything to make it look a little more decorative. I thought that was a good idea and was happy with the way that it turned out but it did take a lot of extra time to finish and once I had started there was no going back. Overall I was happy with the way that it turned out.

This first bag actually holds cards I used some left over yarn from another project to make it and it was just enough.
The next one is a little purse that I had a pattern for I thought that it turned out cute.
I am thinking that I will drag out my stamps next week. I have missed them. But crochet has been a good thing to keep me busy.

More hats.
Ok here is the other style of hat that I have been making. This first one is a childs size.
And the second is an adult size. This one I actually made for Craig. I really like the colors. I got the pattern for these from my mom who also showed me how to make them and also how to crochet. It has been a great thing to do but I find that I am sticking to the easy stuff so I don't have to think. I know sounds like most things that I do.

Crochet
I have been keeping myself busy reading and crocheting while I have been down recovering. And don't confuse the boredom that I have sometimes incountered for the need to go back to domestic chores. I have loved having none. I had my surgery on the 16th of December and Craig took that day through the end of the year off so that he could play mom. I have gotten so spoiled I don't know how I will go back to housework. He and the boys have kept the house clean dishes washed and laundry done. I have been trying to send sumbliminal messages to convince them that they want to continue this but they all agree they don't enjoy it and while they have a new found feeling for what I do around here every day, it is also apparant that they can't wait for me to take back over. Oh well it was a good run. And I can't even begin to express how grateful I am to them for all they have done and especially to Craig who has done most of it. Thanks guys.
This first picture is a hat that I saw in a book that was made for a doll about the size of a Bratz doll. I thought that it would be cute and wondered why it couldn't be made for a bigger head. So here it is this one fits Jacob although it is a girls hat. But Patrick was happy to model it for me. I made a bigger one for my neice out of a pink and it turned out really cute but I didn't get a pic before I gave it to her.
This hat would fit a smaller child I based it loosely off of the measurements I had for another hat for an infant to toddler sized head. This is a very easy hat to make and I really like the way that the tassles turned out.
For those of you who are already up and stamping this year stamp something for me and I will be rejoining you in a couple of weeks.
Happy New Year!
